      How to prevent powder coating from agglomerating

      The powder generally refers to an aggregate of solid particles having a size of less than 1 mm, and the fine powder refers to particles of 500 mesh or more or 30 micrometers or less. A powder coating is a mixture of a resin, a curing agent, an auxiliary agent, a pigment, a filler, and the like, and is mechanically pulverized into a powder. After electrostatic spraying, it is necessary to form a film by heating and baking. There is agglomeration in the powdery material, and if there is a resin with a low melting point and a viscous substance, it will form a hard block or even denature. So how do we prevent the agglomeration of powder coatings? Today we will discuss this issue.
       
      Spraying method
       
      First, adjust the curing amount of the resin and the proportion of the pigment and filler, and select a base material having a higher glass transition temperature of the resin and the curing agent composition. The choice of polyester resin is very important, for example, the anti-agglomeration and weather resistance of terephthalic acid in the monomer is better than that of phthalic acid. In actual use, it is often found that the polyester resin is agglomerated. In the agglomerated formulation, the proportion of the filler is large, and the possibility of powder agglomeration becomes small.
       
      Second, the addition of additives: in the powder is added to the addition of white carbon black, alumina, sodium silicate and other inorganic fine powder. Add anti-blocking organics to the formulation and participate in extrusion, such as oleic acid amide, EBS, polyethylene wax, etc. These two methods will have an impact on the performance and appearance of the coating film.
       
      Third, the production process control: the extruded material should be fully cooled, crushing the environment to control the temperature and humidity, the powder particle size control is adjusted to the appropriate thickness, after cooling, packaging, and reserve 10% of space. In the environment where the powder has many ultrafine powders, high humidity and high temperature, it is easy to appear powder when spraying.
       
      If you still can't avoid the fact that the powder is agglomerated, you can recommend the use of a vibrating screen, which can effectively reduce the agglomeration and help the customer to use it when spraying.
